What to Watch in 2021
June 8, 2021
DURING QUARANTINE, opportunities for social activities and entertainment have been almost nonexistent, leaving people to turn to other, at-home, sources for their fun. Luckily, there is one thing most people have easily accessible in their home: a TV. During January, Netflix has added quite a few new materials viewers can choose from, such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Fate: The Winx Saga, and Henry Danger.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, added to Netflix on January 5th, is a crime thriller movie starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. Based on the novel written by Swedish writer Steg Larsson, it is a story about Mikael Blomkvist, who searches for a missing woman with the help of Lisbeth Salander, a computer hacker.
If you’re looking for something more substantial in terms of hours you’ll spend watching, Fate: The Winx Saga might be more your speed. Inspired by the Nickelodeon series Winx Club, this show came to Netflix on January 22, 2021, only to be met with negative reviews from the audience and critics. Reviews from RottenTomatoes say it is “Dull, flat, and forgettable” and “[This] is the abomination we feared.”
You may also be looking for something different, an easy show with good vibes you can put on in the background while you do your work. Netflix recently added the first three seasons of popular Nickelodeon show Henry Danger to the catalogue, a show which fits all of the above requirements. The show first aired in 2014, and had a run time of six years, with a total of 5 seasons, finally coming off the air in 2020. It has proved to be a family favorite, having been nominated for The Kids Choice Awards no less than 6 times, winning a total of four.
