Book Review: 1984

1984 is a timeless classic that takes a satirical turn on politics. The setting is in a dystopian world where no one is allowed to have any individuality. Everyone’s words, actions, and even thoughts are constantly being monitored by the government, and any wrong move is punishable by death. Tired of conforming to the system, protagonist Winston Smith  begins to defy the government little by little. As his acts of defiance become more serious, so do the consequences. Not only is this book a great thriller, but it highlights the problems with totalitarianism and classism. This is one of my favorite books, and I would give it a 10/10.
