Athlete Spotlight- Henry Quan
March 8, 2022
A few of our winter track members will be competing in the 2022 State Track Meet at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Henry Quan, who is one of the winter track members, qualified for states by placing third in the 300m. Henry Quan is a senior at Heritage High School, so this is his last year of winter track.
When asked his opinions about running, Quan replied,
“I am not a huge fan of running, but I like getting better at things, and it just so happens that it is running right now. However, running still sucks.”
Quan was also asked how long he has participated in track, in which he replied,
“Including this year, I’ve done one full year. I could not do track last year, and my sophomore year got cut off due to COVID.”
Before a meet, Quan does not usually take the time to think a lot before he runs.
“If I’m thinking, I’m probably getting anxious about it. The best way is to clear my head, and focus on going fast.”
He also added that when he runs he also does not think, and runs with a clear mind.
“I try not to think while I’m running because I need all my willpower to focus on going the fastest I can.”
As a senior, he will be going to states, and when asked what he is most looking forward to at states, Quan said, “Only running one event. In all my previous meets, I’ve had to run two to three events, and it is so tiring. However, I am excited to just focus on my 300.”
As States are right around the corner, we wish Henry, as well as the other participants, good luck!
