Journalists in Ukraine

Taegan Wilczynski, Staff Writer

Journalists in Ukraine are risking their lives to document these important events in history. The images and videos that these journalists capture are helping to share with the world the truth about what is happening. Right now, many journalists are in Ukraine documenting the war. Recently, 2 journalists, Pierre Zakrzewski, and freelance journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova, were struck and killed by incoming fire on the vehicle they were traveling in outside of Kyiv. This is a huge example of journalists risking their lives.

While journalists in Ukraine are worrying about trying to stay alive, Russian journalists have to consider a new “fake news” law making it impossible to properly do their job. Because of this, many companies like The New York Times are pulling journalists out of Russia. I think we should all be thankful for what journalists do and what they have been doing; because without them, we wouldn’t be able to experience what we have been for the past few weeks.
