If you are looking for a short story with a long-lasting impact, then this book is the one for you. Set during the Great Depression, the story follows two impoverished men, George and Lenny, who land themselves at a ranch after a desperate job search. Throughout their stay, they conversed with many different walks of life, showing the different struggles migrant workers faced. While the setting of the story may seem mundane, the way John Steinbeck incorporates themes such as racial equality, mental health, greed, and desire makes for a sorrowful novel that reflects  society. Furthermore, its sad ending was an example of how life doesn’t always work out like the fairytales. I would give this book 9/10.
