Mrs. Dobbs’ perfect day “would be spent relaxing on the beach, reading a book, and listening to the waves. It doesn’t matter the time of year – it’s ALWAYS a good day to be at a beach and hear the ocean!… In my opinion, sand, salt air, and the sea are good for the soul (note the alliteration there!).”
The craziest thing that ever happened to Mrs. Dobbs took place when she was in Los Angeles to attend a taping of Jeopardy because her friend had been on the show. That is not even the crazy part of the story! While on a jog, she was asked to stop by a strange man, but she kept jogging because she “didn’t know him and didn’t want to be a crime victim!!!” However, as she kept running, she recalled hearing someone shout “AND, ACTION!” Then, on the road in front of her, several military vehicles screeched to a stop and loads of people jumped out with guns and began to run around. Then she heard, ‘AND, CUT!'” She had nearly run onto a movie set! That’s why the man had told her to stop! Thinking back on it, she said,”Thank goodness I’m not a faster runner and didn’t make it to the road sooner!”
When asked about her favorite color, Mrs. Dobbs replied, “I have always loved the color yellow – it’s been my favorite since I was a little kid. It is bright and cheerful and reminds me of sunshine; it just makes me happy!”
If Mrs. Dobbs hadn’t become a teacher, she recalls wanting to be a social worker,”I like to help people and give back to the community, which are things I get to do in teaching and would also get to do as a social worker.”
Another fun fact that many students may infer from the flag proudly displayed on Mrs Dobbs’ classroom wall is that she is a huge New Zealand All Blacks fan. In fact, she recently had a unique encounter with two All Blacks while traveling. She explained,”My favorite player is Ardie Savea, and I recently ran into him on the street in Turin, Italy while in town for their rugby match against the Italian National Rugby Team.” She also encountered his teammate, Wallace Sititi, and saw both play later that day at the match.
