Here in Heritage High School is a diverse club known as Multicultural club.  The Multicultural club is run by Catherine Thong with Ms. Brown and Ms. Barthel as sponsors.  Not only that but the club also works closely with the Spanish club.

The club was made with the purpose of spreading and encouraging diversity in the school.  This club brings together people with different backgrounds and beliefs allowing people to be exposed to new cultures.  The Multicultural club brings to light how people form their own cliques and ignore others who aren’t part of the clique.  Striding to bridge the gap between cliques and making connections with others.

Catherine Thong, founder of the Multicultural club stated, “I created the club because I noticed Heritage High School is not unified [because] it’s more like [having] subsections of each individual.”

The club meets twice a month, one being afterschool and another during Pride Time lunch.  After school meetings usually happen on Thursday at 4:03 to 5:00.  The club stays in touch by using Remind to send out messages.  The Remind code is @mcsu19-20, so if you are interested in joining you can contact the leaders.

Not only that, but the Multicultural club has their own blog!  Each member is able to add one page to the blog that is all about a country of your choice.  That is as long as no one else has done that country already.  This is only of the only responsibilities of the club.  The other being learning about your culture, or someone else’s.

Some things to look out for that the club has created is the Multicultural Festival on March 26 at 6:00 to 8:00.

“You should come out and experience culture,” Catherine Thong stated, “There’s [going to] be a lot of good food.”
