Book Review: The Diary of Anne Frank

Book Review: The Diary of Anne Frank

Rachael Hargis, Staff Writer

This nonfiction piece was written by Anne Frank, a young girl who was subjected to the ruthless treatment of the Nazis during World War II. The diary is written in chronological excerpts as she goes into hiding with her family to escape religious persecution. While I read the book, I became emotional when I realized how similar in age she was with me. I can barely fathom having to go through the trials and tribulations she faced. Furthermore, I recognized how brave she was to do anything to stay true to her beliefs, and how perseverant she was when undergoing starvation, isolation, persecution, and discrimination at such a young age. Overall, I would give her diary a 10/10; it not only gave me a different perspective on life, but it taught me to be more appreciative for what I have been given.
