Addison Phomsopha is a junior and captain who plays defense for Varsity Field Hockey here at Heritage High School. She has been playing field hockey for around four or five years but only recently started playing for clubs. “I first started…with Perfect Performance Mustangs, but moved to Hammers,” Phomsopha shared. She was not naturally drawn to field hockey; however, she picked it up quickly. “My mom suggested to do it instead of softball one year; I really enjoyed it and decided to keep playing,” she said. Phomsopha has stuck with the sport for so long for many reasons. “My favorite thing… how competitive, aggressive, and strategic it is.” In only her junior year, she was awarded the title of captain, which is a big accomplishment for her but also a big learning experience. Phomsopha explains how “to be a leader you need to be patient and know when to step in.” The position has not only helped her on the field but also off of it. Phomsopha hopes to play in college and is looking forward to finishing the rest of the season off strong!
