Layan Alhadi is #13 on Heritages Varsity Girls Basketball team. She has played basketball since sixth grade and currently plays travel basketball for D1SA. She chose basketball for the team aspect and stuck with it because of how fun it is. Her shooting guard or small forward position on the court, however, is not her favorite thing about basketball. “My favorite part of basketball is the second family because everyone is so supportive.” She felt this support especially during her time playing this previous season with Heritage. “The team environment is very positive; everyone tries hard to include the new people, and I felt very included from day one.” She got to play with her teammates for longer than usual this season because the team entered the post season and started their winning streak. Although, the pressure could not have been easy. “I felt nervous a lot, but the players definitely helped me feel less nervous.” Together the team went all the way to state finals and procured the only team sport state championship since 2010. “I had no doubt… because I knew that we would win states; we’re a talented team.” Heritage is so proud of these girls and hopes to see them continue to improve for years to come!
