Have you ever wondered what your teachers like to do outside of school or what their interests are? Mr. Bennett, who teaches Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Independent Science Research at Heritage High School, shares about his life outside of school.
- Before being a teacher, Mr. Bennett was a paleontologist, a person who studies fossils; as a paleontologist, he discovered a new species that was named after him called “Dimorphoolithus Bennetti.”
- He enjoys exploring the classic genre of books, and his goal is to read a novel from every year through the 1800’s. He currently is reading “The Three Musketeers” which was published in 1844.
- Mr. Bennett has put together the skeleton of a new species of dinosaur at Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas.
- Mr. Bennett likes going to concerts. He enjoys all types of rock music, heavy metal, soul, and world. His last concert was a piece composed by Paganini played by Kevin Zhu on the violin.
- Mr. Bennett loves to travel when he can. His favorite place he traveled to would be the Galapagos Islands. He saw giant tortoises, marine iguanas, and penguins. He got to go swimming with sea lions, sea turtles, and sharks! He also enjoyed the geology there since the islands are volcanic hotspots.
