Ever since 2023, the year of the previous ongoing Daredevil series, fans have been eagerly waiting for a new rendition of the crime fighting vigilante. For those who aren’t already familiar with the character, Daredevil, formally known as Matt Murdock, is a Marvel Comic’s character popular among many generations after being debuted in 1964. His unique origin, experiencing a radioactive accident that resulted in him losing his sight in return for heightened senses, made him really differentiated him from other popular characters. He has finally gotten a new ongoing run by writer Stephanie Phillips and artist Lee Garbett that was released on April 1st.
New Daredevil readers may find this a perfect start with just a general overview of his backstory due to fresh reworked and new characters. For instance, Matt Murdock is given a new role as a law professor instead of his usual role as a lawyer, and there is an the introduction of a new villain, Omen. In addition to the new character and storyline adjustments, Lee Garbett’s art is fantastic; he maps out scenes throughout the story with his unique art style that is amuses the eye with abstract designs and makes the story more engaging to read. The new issue left us with a dangerously ambitious cliffhanger which leaves readers wondering what will happen next?
To sum it all up, Daredevil is perfect for not only people familiar with the character but also for newcomers as well due to Davedevil‘s fresh start as readers are not faced with the same old repetitive story. Overall, this issue was a 10/10 that left me anxiously waiting to pick up the next one on May 6th to see the where his story continues.
