Heritage High School Junior Dylan Williams is #2 on the Heritage Men’s Varsity team. He has played basketball all his life. When asked why he started playing basketball, Williams said, “It runs in my family; also, I’ve always had a love for the sport.” He currently plays travel basketball for D1 Sports and Athletics on the Made Hoops Challenger Circuit. Last year, Williams made the VHSL 2nd Team All-State, First Team All-Dulles District, and First Team All Region last year.
In the 2024-25 season, Williams led his team in assists with 4.9 assists per game, and in games vs John Champe and Park View, he had a season high 11 assists. When asked how he stays comfortable with making passes in tight situations, Williams says that he stays calm and cool during games, understanding that “if you mess up its okay.” That way, his mental state doesn’t “affect the rest of the game.” He also averaged 5.9 points per game with a season high of 15 points in a game vs Woodgrove.
Williams highlights his ability to shoot the ball, creates opportunities for teammates, and plays good defense in long stretches of games. Williams is a great basketball player, and an even better leader on and off the court. Being a varsity captain as well as being the varsity team’s MVP, he shows that he can compete at any level. He has very high hopes for next season. When asked what his goals are for the upcoming season, Williams said, “To win states and to be a better captain.” Best of luck to Williams and his team this upcoming year!
