Most people have a favorite season or at least one that they prefer over others. Some tend to like the hot months of summer, the cool, chilly -ber months, or the rainy months of spring. Not many prefer the frozen winter months. I, on the other hand, do! I love the snow and the feeling of frost tickling my nose. For people who don’t like winter, these ideas may give you a different look on these underrated months. Otherwise, for people who do love these months, here are some ways to spend your winter holiday!
One way for people to get out and fully enjoy winter is to travel to new places. One place to visit is New York City. NYC has so many exciting things to do and see during the holiday season. Seeing a Broadway show, visiting Central Park, going to Rockefeller Center to ice skate, or even staying at The Plaza Hotel and ordering Kevin’s ice cream sundae from the hit movie Home Alone 2: Lost in New York could brighten a overcast winter day. Going to new and interesting places that you’ve never seen or experienced before can be a fun-loving way to spend winter without being cooped up at home all day.
If you’re not into traveling to new places and you’re more of a homebody, that’s okay! There’s lots to do in the comfort of your own home that can make the winter season more enjoyable. Watching nostalgic holiday movies like The Grinch or Elf and curling up in front of the fireplace with a hot cup of cocoa is a wonderful way to enjoy the cold nights and stay happy during winter. Everyone talks about “winter depression,” but there are ways to keep this from happening. One big thing is to go outside and take in the fresh air. I know it’s cold, but going outside and seeing the daylight will have a huge impact on your mood.

Another way to be happy during the winter/holiday season is to dress cute and comfy. Dressing up and wearing sweaters and jeans, or if you’re lazy like me, sweatpants, a hoodie, and your favorite pair of UGG slippers is a great way to enjoy the weather without freezing! If you look good and are comfortable, then you will feel good and be in your best mood.
Additionally, eating warm, hearty food like soups and stews is so comforting during the winter. Also, baking and trying new recipes can be a way to brighten up your afternoons. There are so many different ways to keep yourself busy during the winter season.
These ideas can help you stay happy and possibly even grow to enjoy winter. If not, at least these suggestions will hopefully lead you to being able to tolerate the winter season and prevent misery. Embrace the iciness joy winter can bring!
