The day has finally come; after two years of leaving fans filled with suspense, the wonderfully adapted book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan has been released.
The Disney+ exclusive TV show Percy Jackson and the Olympians, bringing an adventurous fantasy world to screens, is about young Percy as he starts off going through many adversities with his family and is soon revealed to only be half human. He later has to escape to Camp Half Blood — a safe haven to all Demigods— located in New York to be sheltered away from all mythological monsters. This series is jam packed with friendship, betrayal, and action.

This hit TV show stars the following teenage actors: Walker Scobell as Percy Jackson, Leah Jeffries as Annabeth Chase, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood. Adam Lama, a teenage Percy Jackson fan said, “Although there’s much controversy about the actors, I say that there couldn’t have been a better choice!” Additional actors/celebrities who appear in Percy Jackson and the Olympians are Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, Lance Reddick as Zeus, Adam Copeland as Ares in season one, and Andra Day debuting as Athena in season two.
This series’s first season received a rating of 7/10 from over 44 thousand reviews globally on IMDB. Emery Downey — another teenage seasoned Percy Jackson fan — said that the show was wonderfully adapted “especially compared to the early movies,” and it “respectfully” represented the books from the attention to detail to the actors portrayal of the characters.

Perhaps this is because of how the book series was born. Riordan’s son — Haley Riordan — had been struggling in school, specifically in the English categories, but he loved it when his class covered a unit about Greek mythology. Riordan didn’t want his son to stray away from his education, so he started to go in depth about Greek mythology with him. After many nights of fascinating stories before bedtime, Riordan ran out. He quickly improvised a new character named “Percy”who later became the iconic Percy Jackson, who was the son of the legendary Greek God, Poseidon. Haley loved this new character and told his dad to start writing a book series about him. The Percy Jackson character soon became a fresh and polished warrior. Riordan, a middle and high school teacher for about 20 years in the late 90’s, also used his classroom students to edit and develop Percy’s journey, making it according to Riordan, a “child-driven” process. Thus, the famous pentalogy book series was created along with the legendary son of Poseidon. “I highly suggest this book series because of its vast information about Greek mythology, and there’s a character to where everyone feels represented,” said Adam Lama.
