He was accused of using drug money to support his government and having technology that can be used against the United States. He was also indicated on supporting the cartel with drug trafficking. On January fifth 2026, in the Court of Manhattan, he denied the charges.
Some of the citizens view that the capturing of President Maduro is a good action. There are many factors that lead to the community’s opinion on why they agree it’s a beneficial matter. One of the reasons being that Venezuela has dealt with many issues occurring with drugs, safety, and well-being. They view the capturing of President Maduro as a step forward into progressing as a country. Regardless of the citizens who are supporting the capture of President Maduro, they can’t go out in public to celebrate due to being scared of getting robbed or harmed by the people under President Maduro’s control.
On the other hand, people are scared of what can happen to the country and the citizens. Some citizens are frightened that war can happen. One citizen by the name of Araceli says ” I just feel very sad. I am happy Maduro’s going to be in jail, but I know the repercussions. I know what a war means.” She fears for the consequences and the security of the country. Citizens are alarmed that their main source of income, oil, may get taken away by the United States because President Trump said, “This oil will be sold at its market price, and that money will be controlled by me, as President of the United States of America, to ensure it is used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States!”
The people of Venezuela just hope that they and their families can be safe and wish to live in a prosperous country. They are optimistic that the Venezuelan economy can improve and help people achieve their dreams and aspirations. It will take months for people to not only get over the shock of what has occurred, and only time can ease their fears and bring a positive future for Venezuela.
